Borrowed Earth creates unique quality ceramics that celebrate the beauty of handmade. Their work reflects their connection to Papatūānuku (the land) and their whakapapa (ancestral lineages). Adele and Richie take great pride in creating new ways to share their unique view of the world honouring their Māori, Fijian and English heritage.
Each Whakatauki Bowl is handmade so each is unique. The variations include:
- size (small, medium, large)
- colour (either red, green, or black)
- plant species
- whakatauki (many options, see some examples below)
Examples of Whakatauki:
- Ko taku reo taku ohooho, ko taku reo taku mapihi mauria (My language is my awakening, my language is the window to my soul)
- Mā tini, mā mano, ka rapa te whai (By many, by thousands, the object will be obtained/Many hands make light work)
- Ko te ārautanga o tōku herenga he ātarangi (Tomorrow's sunshine is my reward for yesterday's shadows)
Approximate dimensions
Small: 10cm diameter x 5cm deep
Medium: 13cm diameter x 5cm deep
Large: 23cm diameter x 5cm deep

Each Bowl has a different whakatauki and design and you will be sent whichever we have available.
