Katy Cottrell Marquetry

Katy Cottrell is one of only three New Zealand members of the Marquetry Society. A woodwork teacher and designer, Katy uses both traditional and modern techniques to render her original illustrations and rekindle the ancient craft of drawing with veneers. Her techniques and style were refined during her Masters of Fine Art, which specialised in marquetry installations and inlaid furniture to reflect environmental narratives.

Pieces almost always feature wildlife, a passion of hers, and have been sold across Aotearoa.
