Wellington Panoramic Postcard
Wellington Panoramic Postcard
This unique trifold postcard has two stunning panoramic photographs of Wellington city, by kiwi photographer, Glen Coates. On the front, Wellington city at night, lights gleaming, taken from the vantage point of Mt Victoria. Unfold the postcard to see a full panorama of Wellington taken from the air with all of the hills and bays laid out, from Miramar Peninsula's Point Halswell on the left, all the way to the Beehive on the righthand end.
When Glen learned the name of his Christchurch street - Kahu Road - was Māori for the Harrier Hawk, he quickly took on the name for his new publishing company. A bird that can soar effortlessly on rising air was an inspiring symbol, and the hawk’s superb vision from high in the sky had a certain parallel with his own quest to capture detail on film from high ground. As a specialist in panoramas taken from the vantage point of a helicopter, the symbolism was perfect.
